Shootout!

It's been a bit of a crazy week. My son SOMEHOW....he has no idea HOW....received a corneal abrasion over the weekend and besides the ER on Sunday and appointments at the eye doctor everyday since, I've had to juggle appointments around. I've never seen anyone in so much PAIN....it was horrific, so lord forbid....avoid corneal abrasions at all costs! I think he'd prefer having a baby at this point.

I was able to sneak out Saturday before the "corneal abrasion" and meet up with several fellow Photographers for a shootout at a local botanical center. A few models volunteered their time as well to allow us to photograph them. AND since I'm not a big "plant" photographer the first thing I did was grab one of the models, threw her out in the frigid cold and had her smash some snow against a window of the botanical center....and I would not let her back in until she got it right! haha OH, but I'm not done....they have a wonderful cascading small waterfall in the center and I had her climb up in it. She didn't want to get her hair wet but ended up a drowned rat....and though she didn't admit it, I think she thoroughly enjoyed it. She did love the pictures I provided though so I think the abuse I put her through was well worth it in the end result. It was great getting together with everyone and going out for dinner/drinks after. I've posted a few pictures I took from the shoot.

WHEW!

I have been a naughty girl in not keeping up with my blog, but those last 3 months of 2008 about did me in! I expected December to be somewhat slow due to the holidays but I was dead wrong! Christmas week I had two weddings to photograph plus two additional shoots. It was an overwhelming week.

January started a little slow due to some dental surgery I had....so I treated myself to a few days of vacation, plus it gave me time to get my December shoots under control. I was and am and wondering if I will ever get out of retouch HELL!

This past weekend I was honored to be contacted by Travis Ferguson, defensive end for the Iowa State Cyclones football team and NFL hopeful to do a shoot. He drove down from Ames, Iowa and I spent about 5 hours with him. What a great guy and drop dead gorgeous! I've added a few of my shots of him from the day. Enjoy!

Crazy Busy!

Well it's been a couple weeks since I updated my blog. I've been swamped....have had weddings to photograph 3 weeks straight along with several senior picture shoots.

I have some BIG things in the works that I'll hopefully be able to share with you all soon. In the meantime keep your eyes/ears peeled for some Wiz magic and if you have the chance visit my website. Here's the link! Until then....I'm in retouch HELL! ;-)

Get Ready to RUMBLE!

Quad City Rollers are having their first local bout this Friday! I've kinda been adopted by the team as their team photographer. I love supporting these women and doing a little promo for them. They are HARDCORE, raw, rugged and are committed to their sport. If you ever have the chance to experience DERBY....DO IT! They keep trying to convince me to join the team but at 51, I'm afraid I'd get my butt kicked! Tomorrow I'll be doing some team pics with them that they'll be raffling off at the bout. In the meantime.....here's their flyer regarding the bout and a picture I took of them a couple weeks ago.

Love these girls...they ROCK!

Sander/Sweer Wedding

August 2nd I traveled to Clinton, Iowa to photograph the wedding of Kali Sander and Zach Sweers. Kali and Zach are residing in Wichita, KS but decided to return home to be close to family and friends to exchange their vows.

A week prior to the ceremony I learned the originally planned small affair had now grown to a total of 18 in the wedding party! I scrambled making last minute arrangements to hire a backup photographer to assist me....THANK YOU JAYE! You saved me!

Only one mishap.....as I slid into a front row seat to get a good closeup of the ring exchange, the minister threw up a microphone and completely blocked my view! Plus I was trapped by 6 groomsmen and couldn't go anywhere! Luckily Jaye was on the other side and caught the exchange!

Wedding was beautiful....followed by a reception at The Tuscany and pictures at the Arboretum in Clinton....and then....it was off to bed for me after 7 hours of lugging a camera around!

Flapper Girl Photoshoot

Thanks to Maurice Woods for allowing me access to the Victorian mansion he recently purchased in the Gold Coast District of the Quad Cities for my photoshoot with Amanda last week! Maurice was very generous in allowing us full access to his home as workers were feverishly working around us in the remodeling process. Kudos to Amanda on a job well done! Here's a few pics from our shoot...
