Shootout!

It's been a bit of a crazy week. My son SOMEHOW....he has no idea HOW....received a corneal abrasion over the weekend and besides the ER on Sunday and appointments at the eye doctor everyday since, I've had to juggle appointments around. I've never seen anyone in so much PAIN....it was horrific, so lord forbid....avoid corneal abrasions at all costs! I think he'd prefer having a baby at this point.

I was able to sneak out Saturday before the "corneal abrasion" and meet up with several fellow Photographers for a shootout at a local botanical center. A few models volunteered their time as well to allow us to photograph them. AND since I'm not a big "plant" photographer the first thing I did was grab one of the models, threw her out in the frigid cold and had her smash some snow against a window of the botanical center....and I would not let her back in until she got it right! haha OH, but I'm not done....they have a wonderful cascading small waterfall in the center and I had her climb up in it. She didn't want to get her hair wet but ended up a drowned rat....and though she didn't admit it, I think she thoroughly enjoyed it. She did love the pictures I provided though so I think the abuse I put her through was well worth it in the end result. It was great getting together with everyone and going out for dinner/drinks after. I've posted a few pictures I took from the shoot.

WHEW!

I have been a naughty girl in not keeping up with my blog, but those last 3 months of 2008 about did me in! I expected December to be somewhat slow due to the holidays but I was dead wrong! Christmas week I had two weddings to photograph plus two additional shoots. It was an overwhelming week.

January started a little slow due to some dental surgery I had....so I treated myself to a few days of vacation, plus it gave me time to get my December shoots under control. I was and am and wondering if I will ever get out of retouch HELL!

This past weekend I was honored to be contacted by Travis Ferguson, defensive end for the Iowa State Cyclones football team and NFL hopeful to do a shoot. He drove down from Ames, Iowa and I spent about 5 hours with him. What a great guy and drop dead gorgeous! I've added a few of my shots of him from the day. Enjoy!
